May 24th, 2013 marked the 40th anniversary of the first Lottery drawing in the state of Maryland, which occurred at Hopkins Plaza. At the time, tickets were only 50 cents.
Taken from the press release: “In the four decades since, some have won big, others have won small, but none has won more than the state of Maryland. Lottery figures show the state has made $12.8 billion in lottery revenues, and has used the money to support a variety of state initiatives including education and public safety programs.”
Congrats to the Maryland Lottery. Check out their page where players can share their favorite experiences with the lottery over the past 40 years.
